Early Intervention Building Attention Skills In Your Child
Early Intervention For Attention Difficulties
The Tali Train program was created as an early intervention program to help improve attention in children with attention difficulties and attention disorders like Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are at a heightened risk of attention deficits and the associated negative impacts. Typically developing children may experience attention difficulties early in life but don’t receive help until later in their education, often causing them to have gaps in their learning. Currently, treatment options are sparse, with the most common being psychostimulant medication. Drug based interventions often focus on improving symptoms rather than treating underlying causes of attention problems. Current non-pharmaceutical interventions often require multiple clinical appointments which are expensive and time consuming. In some cases medication cannot be prescribed due to a child’s age or condition. Early intervention is vital.
Tali Train is a game-based training early intervention program for children, designed by a team of neuroscientists at Monash University. The program represents the culmination of over 25 years of research in developmental psychology and cognitive neuroscience. The program has been proven to build a child’s 4 core attention skills by strengthening underlying attentional processes. In clinical trials, improvements were retained up to 6 months after treatment stopped, suggesting that benefits are long term.
Tali Train exercises target core attention skills:
Designed to adapt to skill level, your child will always be challenged. Working their skills at the right level ensures they are engaged and will develop attention abilities over the five week period. Each of our Tali Train exercises are designed to challenge the attention networks within the brain. The slider below explains the benefits of each skill.
The Tali Train selection exercise trains children to attend to relevant information while filtering out distractions.
In the Tali Train control exercise, children develop the ability to choose what they attend to and what they ignore.
The Tali Train inhibition exercise trains children to act in a less impulsive manner.
In the Tali Train focus exercise, children develop their ability to maintain their attention on a task over a prolonged period of time.
Tali Train is clinically proven to boost children’s ability to select relevant information, and improve numeracy skills. These findings have been published in several highly regarded international journals. The quality of this research is unique to Tali Train and is unparalleled by other training programs. Read more about our Tali research in the article below. Monash University article “Paying attention in the wonderful world of Tali” The proven benefits of Tali Train are:
- Promotes improvements in children’s selective attention
- These improvements in selective attention are sustained – even 3 months after training has stopped
- Promotes improvements in untrained academic skills such as numeracy
